Wood hand: An evenly proportioned size and shape, with many lines on palms and ventral fingers. Excess yang is reddish, dry, with thick grooves and nails. Excess yin is cold, clammy, pale, possibly tingling or numb. Fragile or horizontal indicate poor Nervous or emotional Wood persons often bite their nails.

The person with the Wood hand has many lines on the inside of the fingers and palm. This is not only from dry skin but possibly from poor circulation, and could result in problems with joints or headaches. The chi of the Wood person tends to be focused in the liver and gallbladder organ systems, located on the right side of the ribs and in the chest and neck. Allergies, high blood pressure, and headaches are tendencies for Wood with internal heat. Poor muscle tone, vision problems, and indecision can indicate internal cold. The wood element motivates movement; with strong muscles and supple joints we move forward and bend smoothly.

The emotional energy of the Wood element also involves movement. These people hate being stopped, delayed, or frustrated. They love to create, move, dance, and travel. They can be impatient, perfectionistic, and demanding, or inhibited, de- pending upon the emotional blocks they find or create for themselves. They need to find constructive ways to live their dreams.

If you are a Wood type, try to avoid excessively oily and rich food and drink. The resulting liver pain and nausea inhibits the free flow of chi circulation and possibly your tolerance of others. Your karmic issue is power. Movement gives you the capacity to create, but with wise use of your personal strengths you can gain insight and move mountains. As you develop compassion for others, all doors will open for you and you will move smoothly through life.
